Team Leaders

A team leader can see where the people on their team are with their training, without being an admin. A worship leader can check who still needs Safe Sanctuary before Sunday. A small group leader can see who finished the study. Team leaders are on the Equip and Multiply plans.

Anyone can lead a team: a learner, a creator or an admin. Leading doesn't change someone's role, and it doesn't add them to the team or enroll them in its training. If a leader should take the training too, add them to the team as well.

Who counts as a leader

  • From Planning Center. On a Planning Center Group, everyone with the Leader role is a leader. On a Services team, everyone listed as a team leader is a leader. EquipEngine picks them up on each sync, and drops them when they stop leading in Planning Center.
  • Added by an admin. Go to Cohorts and open a cohort. Use Make leader on a member's row, or Manage leaders to pick anyone in your church, whether or not they're in the cohort. The cohort's row shows who leads it. Remove a leader from Manage leaders, or with Remove as leader on their row.

Leaders from Planning Center show a Planning Center mark and can't be removed in EquipEngine, because the next sync would bring them back. Change them in Planning Center instead.

To see everyone who leads a team, open People and choose Team leaders in the role filter.

What a leader sees

Leaders get My teams in the sidebar. It shows only the teams they lead:

  • A Needs attention list of anyone who is overdue, due this week, or up for renewal.
  • For each team, how many people are ready to serve, and how many are overdue.
  • Each person's courses and training paths, with progress, due dates and renewals.

A person counts as ready when they have training assigned, every course is complete (or marked complete), and every training path is finished and not due for renewal.

Leaders can't change anything from My teams, and they can't see anyone outside their teams.

Quiz answers and responses

By default, a leader sees progress, not answers. They can read their team's quiz answers and written responses on a course when:

  • they can edit the course (an admin, or a creator in the course's category), or
  • an admin has turned on Share answers with team leaders in the course's Overview settings.

When answers are shared, an Answers link appears next to that course on the person's page in My teams.
